International Regulations & Requirements
Today, it is noticeable that countries across the world have been committed to protecting the environment. Faced with ozone layer depletion, sea-ice loss, tropical rainforest deforestation, and desertification, people become increasingly aware of the disrupted balance between the natural environment and humans caused by the unchecked consumption of natural resources when people are pursuing economic growth. To ensure the sustainable development of the environment and the society, governments from various countries and environmental groups (e.g. the EU member states; EICC, or the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition; CFSI, or the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative; and GeSI, or Global e-Sustainability Initiative) are working hand in hand to come up with related regulations for the environmental protection. Then the governments enact laws and impose penalties in ways that corporations and non-governmental environmental groups can practice them afterwards.
